Since 1949 Adidas has been one of the largest sportswear company in the
industry. Adi Dassler, the founder of Adidas, is said to be the reason behind the name.
There is a myth though that Adidas stands for “All Day I Dream About Sports”. With
2,811 retail stores worldwide, Adidas has more than 60,620 employees working for them
in over 160 countries. Adidas produces more than 850 million products per year. Adidas
is striving to be the leader and biggest in the sporting goods industry. The Adidas group
came up with a slogan, “Creating the New.” Adidas will be using this headline for their
next five-year strategic business plan. By developing a strategic plan, Adidas is not
waiting for the things to happen.
By developing a strategic plan, Adidas is instituting its organization a plan to
follow so that the company becomes more profitable. It helps managers set goals for all
levels of employees and the assists the decision makers in designing a tactical way of
gaining the market share of the business. With individuals aspiring to live a healthier life,
sporting goods industry continues to grow. Adidas’ five-year strategic plan took effect in
2015 but they are viewing 2018 as the key year for attaining many of their goals which
are to be fully reached by 2020. When a company decides to develop a strategic plan,
they are engaging in a roadmap for management to follow to arrive at the future goal.
With a profit organization, Adidas’ products include clothing, sporting goods, and
footwear. “Creating the New” will include three strategic choices speed, cities, and open
source. “Adidas will become the first true fast sports company: Fast in satisfying
consumer needs and fast in internal decision-making. We have identified six key cities in
which we want to grow share of mind, share of market and share of trend. We will also be
