, Introduction
Community health refers to medical practice focused on individual well-being within a
given community. It is aimed at helping the community members in improving their health
status. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct a community assessment to assist in identifying the
problem and developing a community teaching plan. Health education is a vital public health
program for implementing health promotion and illness prevention programs as it provides a
learning experience with behaviour change (Verra et al., 2019).
This paper aims to develop a community teaching work plan on how to quit smoking to
prevent lifestyle illness. The work plan will focus on topic selection and population of interest,
epidemiology related to the selected topic, nursing diagnosis, learning theory, relationship
between HP 2020 and Alma Ata health, designing of behavioural objective, evaluation, barriers
during teaching and therapeutic communication.
