PURPOSE
Environmental variables have the power to impact the global health and healthcare delivery in a significant
manner. From safe water and food sources to impoverished living conditions, factors within the
environment can either support physical well-being, or contribute to poor health and disparity.
One such factor is the far-reaching impact of climate change on global health. Climate changes are resulting
in overall global warming, as well as increased natural disasters worldwide that directly influence health in a
myriad of ways. The purpose of this assignment is to examine issues related to climate change and discuss
their effect on global health and the health of individuals. Emerging efforts to address the issue will be
examined. Finally, solutions will be proposed to prepare and advocate for improved health outcomes
surrounding the issue.
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
Through this assignment, the student will address the following course learning outcomes:
CO 2: Analyze the diverse variables that shape global health and their impact on health disparity
worldwide (PO 5)
CO 3: Propose strategies to support health equity and improve health outcomes from a global
perspective (PO 5)

Final due date is Sunday 11:59 pm MT at the end of Week 7.

ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW
Investigate the far-reaching impact of climate change, and select one issue that is impacting global health as
a result of climate change. Read about emerging efforts to address the selected climate change issue, and
consider additional solutions to prepare for its impact and to advocate for improved outcomes.
In a 2- to 4- page paper, address the elements below. Use a minimum of 3 peer-reviewed scholarly sources,
current within 5 years, to support your work. See rubric for specific, required content criteria within each
section of the paper:

1. Provide an introduction to the paper.
2. Identify and describe one issue that is impacting global health as a result of climate change. Explain
how this issue influences global health and the health of individuals. Describe current efforts to
address this climate change-related health concern.
3. Propose one strategy at the local level to prepare for or address the impact of this issue and explain
the resources that would be needed. Discuss how the strategy would impact the health of
individuals locally, as well as global health.
4. Provide a summary to the paper.
ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
1. Abide by the Chamberlain College of Nursing Academic Integrity Policy.
2. Sources older than five years may not be used without the permission of the class professor.
3. Title page, pagination, subheadings, body of paper, citation of sources, and reference page must
follow APA guidelines as found in the current edition of the manual.
4. Rules of grammar, spelling, word usage, punctuation, sentence and paragraph structure are
followed and consistent with formal, scholarly writing as noted in the APA Manual (current edition).
5. No more than one short direct quote (15 words or less) may be used in this assignment.
6. First person should not be used within this assignment.
7. Please note: If you do not receive a proficient rating in any major content category, you can re-
submit your assignment with revisions in those content categories to receive a better grade. You
have one additional opportunity to revise after the initial submission in order to make
improvements. The initial submission must be a complete paper, rough drafts will not be graded. All
