so that it can be obtained by children, with financial assistance from the state if needed. Article 29: the
purpose of education is to develop the child's personality, talents and abilities as optimally as possible,
develop respect for human rights, prepare children to live responsibly in a free and pluralistic society,
and respect parents, cultural identity, language, their values and the natural environment. Article 31:

CHAPTER II
, DISCUSSION
2.1. INTRACURRICULAR, EXTRACURRICULAR, AND COCURICULAR DEFINITIONS
1. DEFINITION OF INTRACURRICULAR
Intracurricular activities are the main school activities carried out using the time allocation determined
in the program structure. This activity is carried out by teachers and students in class hours every day.
Intracurricular activities are carried out to achieve the minimum goals of each subject or field of study
that are classified as special.
An example of an extracurricular is a visit to a museum or other educational site.
According to Kunandar (2007: 177) what is meant by intracurricular activities are self-development
activities carried out mostly in the classroom (intracurricular). This intracurricular activity is
inseparable from the teaching and learning process which is the core process that occurs in schools as
a formal educational institution. Based on this, learning is defined as a form of growth or change in a
person which is expressed in new ways of behaving thanks to experience and practice. This is as
expressed by Oemar Hamalik (2003: 4) which states that learning is a change in behavior through
interaction between individuals and the environment. There are various elements contained in
learning, including the motives for learning, the goals to be achieved and the situations that affect
them.
In this regard, there are several basic abilities that must be possessed by teachers in learning activities
in the classroom (intracurricular). Piet A. Sahertian as quoted by Ary H. Gunawan (2000: 121), states
that there are 10 competencies that must be owned by a teacher, including:
1) Ability to master the lesson material delivered
2) Ability to manage teaching and learning programs
3) Ability to manage class
4) Ability to use media/learning resources
5) Ability to master the foundation of education
6) Ability to manage teaching and learning interactions
