Part 1 – Use the following words to write 5 original sentences that follow
a periodic sentence structure:
1. As she danced happily, her hair billowed around her face.
2. In response to the protest of the students, the principal mandated compliance
with the school’s dress code.
3. At the beginning of mass, the priest consecrated the wine that was to be given
to the congregation.
4. After a week in the crowded city, Jamie retreated to the desolate countryside
for some alone time.
5. Having built a business from the ground up, the enterprising businessman was
praised by many for his success.
Part 2 – Use the following words to write 5 original sentences that follow
a balanced sentence structure:
1. The attic was filled with old boxes and it had gossamer in every corner.
2. It was Eric’s impulsiveness that got him into this mess, and his guile that got
him out of it.
3. The spy snuck into the part in the guise of a servant, and accomplished his goal
of killing the enemy.
4. This car ride was filled with interminable arguments, but everyone had fun
once they reached Disney World.
5. David did not realize the women were insulting him, and did not grasp the
subtleties of their language.
