Vertebral muscles (back muscles)
It is formed of 3 muscles and its fibers run more vertically throughout the
lumbar, thoracic and cervical regions
Erector spinae
– Iliocostalis
– Longissimus
– Spinalis
Actions: The erector spinae muscle extends the vertebral column.
Nerve supply: First cervical nerve (C1) to the fifth lumbar nerve (L5)
