WEEK 7: REJECTION REGION 76 149
The list given below describes the 5 REQUIRED posts per week in this course. It does not matter which order
you post in so long as you post on 4 different days, with the first post no later than Wednesday. Finally,
ALWAYS put the same headers that are given below at the TOP of your post so that we quickly recognize what
you are doing.
ANALYTICAL POST
Pick ANY even multi-part problem REQUIRING COMPUTATION from ANY chapter 7 section exercise set, and
solve it here. State the problem, show your work and provide a narrative explanation (a paragraph) of what you
did and what it means. DO NOT attach files in order to show work or images. Embed the image in the
workspace. Use the equation editor to show the math, if needed. Feel free to attach spreadsheets if you'd like to
share with others though.
LEARNING OUTCOMES POST
Visit the week's Introduction page in the Module area and pick a Course Objective to demonstrate for us here.
Include the text of the Objective in your post. Use the same guidelines given above in accordance with how they
apply to the objective and enabler(s) you choose. Did I mention writing a full paragraph?
STATISTICS IN THE NEWS POST
Search for a news item that is applicable to this week's Course Objectives. Again, write one or more
paragraphs explaining in detail why this news item corresponds to our course objectives this week. If there is a
research journal article that is relevant, write a paragraph or two about it. Get creative.
PROFESSIONAL POST
Describe how you could use HYPOTHESIS TESTING to help make a decision in your current job, a past job, or
a life situation. Include a description of the decision, its variables, and how data could ideally be collected to
complete the task. If you can use data from work and run it through whatever statistical mill we are playing with
this week, go for it. If there is a relevant problem from the book that matches this goal, adapt it here.
ENGAGEMENT POST
Respond in a substantive way to one of your student colleagues post. If analytical, offer a different solution
method or technology. Extend the conversation with news or research articles that add value to the conversation.
Your post must meet the same requirements as have been posted here with respect to post type. Be sure to post
something that is Statistical in nature and content rather than merely conversational.
