Overview: For Milestone Two, you will explain the research design and methods that will
be used to address the business problem you identified in Milestone
One, justifying why they are appropriate for your research study. To support your
research design, describe the methods you will use, the key variables, and
ethical considerations involved in using the research design.
Prompt: Explain how you will carry out your research. Remember that your business
problem should be able to be addressed using action research.
Specifically the following critical elements must be addressed:
Research Design:
A. Explain the research design and methods you will use, justifying why they are
appropriate for your research study.
B. Describe the key variables from primary and/or secondary data sources that you will use
to analyze your research problem.
C. Explain the key dependent and independent variables. In other words, how would the
independent variables predict, explain, or prove the
dependent variable?
D. Explain the key ethical considerations for using these data sources, including how they
meet legal and professional standards.
Introduction
This paper will address the research and design methods that will be utilized to address the
problem I identified at Maruti Suzuki India LTD (MSIL). I will comprehensively analyze the
following four components; Research and Design Methods, Key Variables, Key Dependent and
Independent Variables, and Key Ethical Considerations.
Research Design and Methods
, Research design gives the plan that will be followed in solving the existing problem
(Gliner et al., 2016). In module one I identified the main problem to be the identification of the
right hatch segment that meets the needs of the customers and the goals of the organization,
which also mean a problem with product management. For this specific problem, I will utilize a
conclusive research design that will allow me to assess the issue from multiple perspectives and
various angles in order to get a full understanding and give the right recommendations. More
specifically I will utilize a descriptive research design as it will allow me to collect a wide range
of data, analyze the data, design it and present it in a manner that is comprehensive and clear
enough to solve the existing problem. A descriptive research design is suitable for my identified
problem as it is conclusive, enabling multiple perspectives of the problem at hand and thus
giving a more reliable and efficient solution. Additionally, a descriptive research design will
enable me to comprehensively cover organization and market aspects that are crucial in a product
choice. The specific crucial aspect that will be covered under the descriptive research design
includes; market characteristics, consumers' needs and preferences what affects them, and social-
economic factors.
For the problem identified, it is important that the research design be clear, well-structured, and
specific to the point. When deciding on a primary product segment for a highly competitive
market, it is imperative that the solution be specific and clear with no room for doubt.
Descriptive research design encompasses both qualitative and quantitative data, which means
that the data collection will be well represented and enough for the study.
I will utilize various data collection methods for the study with the major ones being
observations, questionnaires, and interviews. Being a complex topic for the organization, I will
utilize both qualitative and quantitative research methods to collect richly diverse data. The data
