Hello Lakhwinder, great discussion post. As you have stated, according to Florence
Nightingale's Environmental theory, nursing is defined as the act of utilizing the environment of
the patient to assist him in his recovery. Despite the varied responses from the various nurses, the
central idea is the same, providing care to patients from all cultural groups. Nurses should be
culturally competent in order to provide inclusive care to patients from different cultural groups.
Another purpose of nurses is to educate patients on disease prevention and control, as well as the
importance of maintaining healthy living. Healthy living includes the increased consumption of
fruits and vegetables, lowering the consumption of foods with high-fat content and sugary foods,
as well as increasing physical activeness (Lynch, Johnston & Wharton, 2018). Increased physical
activeness is essential since it helps in burning extra calories in the body. Calories may increase
the risk of becoming obese.
