The strategy I choose is #3: Focus on meaning rather than individual signs. I choose this strategy
because I think that when communicating, we don’t necessarily need to use every word to get to
the “meat-and-potatoes” of the meaning. I have two young children. As a mother, you learn real
quick what your child wants/needs by their limited words and gestures. I think that if I miss a
sign or two it will be ok, because I can still grasp the overall meaning.
