Assignment B - PPP Grammar Lesson Table: First Conditional

the table below, we do NOT mean 'What is the function of the lesson'!!!
1. What is the target form of the first conditional First Conditional
(both clauses)? (F) Affirmative Form: If + subject + present simple (clause1/condition clause), subject + will +
base verb (clause2/result clause)
(Reverse clauses is also possible)
E.g., If I have time, I will go out OR I will go out if I have time
2. What is the model sentence you will elicit to As a warmer, I will ask students about their dreams: “what is your dream?”. I will write down
begin your presentation? their answers on the board. I will pick one of them as an example, e.g., “travel to London”. I
will use it by introducing the if clause: “If I travel to London”. Then elicit the second clause.
Then from that I will elicit the 2nd clause: “I will visit Buckingham Palace”
3. What are the negative and question Model sentence in negative form: If I travel to London, I will not/won’t visit Buckingham
(interrogative) forms of your model sentence? Palace
(You might find there is more than one possibility, Form: If + Subject + present simple, subject + won’t + base verb
but you only need to show one negative and one
question, then analyse the forms.) Model sentence in question form: What will you do if you travel to London? or Where will
you go if you travel to London?
Form: Interrogative (Wh) word + will + subject + base verb + if + subject + present simple
4. What is the function? (M) Talking about possible situations/events that could happen in the future.
5. What do students need to know about the Stress and weak forms
pronunciation, including sentence stress and In affirmative form the subject and the auxiliary verb will are usually contracted: I’ll, you’ll,
intonation? (P) he’ll, etc.
(Think only about how the model sentence In negative form the auxiliary verb will and not are usually contracted: won’t.

As a reference, the same thing is noticed and previously learned. The negative form of the
present simple, the auxiliary verb do/does and not are usually contracted: don’t, doesn’t.
