I. STANDARD PROJECTIONS:
1) PERIAPICAL RADIOGRAPH:
Advantages: Useful screening images that offer a detailed view of a small area of the
alveolar arch.
Limitation: Possibility of distortion & 2-D representation of anatomic
structures.
2) OCCLUSAL RADIOGRAPH:
Advantages: -) Intraoral projections that offer easy, economic, low radiation
dose & high-resolution images covering a large area than a panoramic
radiograph.
-) Provides an image of mandibular width or depict an extended
area of the alveolar ridge
-) Offers an initial assessment of the implant patient.
Limitations: Distortion & overlapping anatomy.
3) PANORAMIC RADIOGRAPH:
Advantages: -) Used in the evaluation of implant patients & initial assessment
