9. Small Business and Entrepreneurship
* INTRODUCTION
- Small scale industries contribute significantly to the development process and
act
as a vital link in the industrilation in terms of production,employment and
exports
for economic prosperity by widening entrepreneurial base and use of local raw
material and indigenous skills.
# Enterprises are classified into two major categories;
1). Manufacturing
2). services
* Manufacturing :- In the case of entrepreneurship engaged in the manufacture
or production of goods pertaining to any industries specified in the first
scedule
to the industries (Development and Regulation)Act,1951,
there are three types of entreprises:-
1). Micro enterprises :- Where the investment in plant and machinery does not
exceed twenty five lakh rupees.
2). Small enterprises :- Where the investment in plants and machinery is more
then twenty five lakh rupees but does not exceed five crore rupees.
3). Medium enterprises :- Where the investment in plant and machinery is more
then five crore but does not exceed ten crore rupees.
* Services :- In the case of entreprises engaged in providing or rendering of
services there are three types of enterprises.
1). Micro enterprises :- Where the investment in equipment does not exceed ten
lakh rupees.
2). Small enterprises :- Where the investment in equipment is more then ten lakh
rupees but does not exceed two crore rupees.
3). Medium enterprises :- Where the investment in equipment is more then two
crore but does not exceed five crore rupees.
