All over the world, everyone faces environmental problems including children and the
elderly. Syahrul Ramadhan, Elfia Sukma, & Vivi Indriyani (2019) stated that environmental
problems are related to careless and intensive human activities in natural areas. The more
opposing aspect is the human unconscious of what must be done to the environment.
Everyone has the same responsibility in overcoming this environmental problem because this
environmental damage is not due to a particular place, but comes from the surrounding
environment and from themselves.
Developing individuals who are aware and environmentally responsible is needed for
this problem so that a better and better quality environment is needed. One way to do this is
through education, namely environmental education. The purpose of this environmental
education is to make students approve and maintain their own environment. The environment
as something valuable and must be protected by humans themselves. Environmental
Education can help students Return to the Human World 2019).
As a teacher we must have an interest and understanding of the environment, and be
able to apply learning related to the environment. Language teacher is a teacher who teaches
all subjects and basic lessons that must be understood by students. For example, such as
communication based on speaking skills, as well as what you want to read based on reading
skills and various other skills. In integrating environmental education into language classes,
educators can increase students' interest in these environmental problems that can directly
affect their future, teach them to have a good relationship with the environment and are able
to introduce meaningful language learning and communication.
From the results of the survey that I did students having knowledge of the
environment would be skilled in writing skills, the results showed 42.7% chose to agree,
39.8% chose strongly agreed, and 10.5% disagreed and 7% disagreed. From the survey
results we can see that the environment also has a large impact on the importance of
environmental material in learning Indonesian on students' writing skills.

, One of the Indonesian language lessons that can be used in environmental material is
writing skills. Writing is one of the skills that plays an important role in human life. In KBBI
(2008: 1219), writing is the birth of thoughts or feelings (such as writing, making letters) with
writing. According to Semi (2007: 14), writing is the transfer of thoughts or feelings into the
form of language symbols. The symbols are arranged so that they can convey what the author
wants to convey and can be understood by the reader. According to Tarigan (2008: 3),
writing is a productive and expressive activity. Writing is used to inform and influence the
reader. Writing really requires time to practice, practice writing skills need to repeat regularly
and do it many times. Based on the opinions of the experts above, writing is an activity to
convey thoughts and feelings conveyed through writing.
Writing skills are one of the skills students must master. Writing skills are one of the
language skills learned by students in schools with various other language skills such as
speaking skills, reading skills and listening skills. Princess. R. & Syahrul. R., (2019), and
Rahmatina (2015), stated that writing skills are one of productive and expressive language
skills that are used to communicate indirectly with other parties. Students sometimes are not
interested in writing skills, because they have difficulty in writing the first sentence to be
written, how to start and how the sentence is structured. For that the teacher must be able to
explain to students how to develop words into a sentence. The teacher can provide material
about loving the environment as an example so students can be more creative when writing.
In the results of my research, environmental material in learning Indonesian can increase
students' concern for the environment around them, the results of which are 68.6% agree,
29.4% strongly agree and 2% disagree. From the results of a survey conducted it can be said
that environmental material in learning Indonesian can increase students' concern for the
environment around them can make students more creative and innovative to make a writing.
In effective learning, teacher participation determines how to carry out the
development of students' knowledge and experience in daily life, as well as guide students
towards critical thinking on matters related to student experience (Elfira Sukma: 2007). A
teacher must be able to vary the learning so that students do not experience boredom and
boredom during the learning process. With a variety of interesting and unique learning
variations of course students will be excited and curious about the lessons they will learn
later.
Syahrul (in Ramadhan at al, 2018) argues that writing skills are applied to enhance
student creativity, so that through writing activities students can convey knowledge and
information that students know to the general public. The ability of students indirectly will
