What I found interesting with the video on Finagle A Bagel is the use of incentives to give
employees a desire to perform. Also that there is s set upper limit for Managers, this lets
the employees know that salaries are not going to upper management while they are
doing all the actual work. The philosophy of directing your employees on how to make
bonuses to help grow their ethusiasm is a noval approach.

Giving people a clear cut answer to what is in it for them will more often than not
give the individual the motivation to get things done in a manner that give them
the best try to accomplish their goal. That type of motivation is great for some
but not for all because if i can motivate you then i can also demotivate you.

Dona,
I have to agree with you. I think that incentives are a great way for companies
to get a employee to excel more at a rate they would like to see. It is beneficial
for both the company and the employees. The company may spend a little extra
cash for these incentives but not really when you add things up. They have
employees that do the job that needs to get done and they feel they are
appreciated while they work. Also the employees are growing and expanding
their horizon at the same time and probable don't even think about it. Seems like
a win-win, I cant understand why more companies don't do it.

Their incentives regarding their pay scales is a great idea.
They give the managers a modest salary and then after a 20% increase (over
time) they cap that salary, but that doesn't stop the earning power of the
managers.
They then enter into the bonus tier, which gives them the opportunity to
make more money, however this is based on the profit of their stores.
This is a great incentive tool because the managers become stakeholders in the
business, rather than just employees of the business. By including them into this
part of the business, they care more about the success and failure of the business
and that would logically make them care more about the goings on of the
business.
