Project
Project: a project is a group of people, usually from different fields of expertise,
collaborating temporarily with the aim of reaching a predetermined project result within a
predetermined budget within a predetermined time frame.

Types of projects Different categories: -
- Technical projects= goal > technology/ come up with a new product, ‘hard’ projects.
- Social projects= ‘soft’ projects, outcomes are not factual.
- Commercial projects= goal > to earn money, for example market research etc.
- Mixed projects= combination.

Phasing

Dividing a project into phases is one way of keeping manageable.

Phases for a small project:
- Preparation (think)
- Realization (act)
- Aftercare (maintain)

Project phases:
- Concept > the idea; it often results in a project proposal, if its improved you can
continue to the next step.
- Definition > what needs to be done; defining the end results of the project. The result
will be a project plan.
- Design > what is the ultimate goal; deciding what the project results will be, results in
a design report.
- Preparation > how do you need to go about it; detailing how to do it, results in a
detailed design, like a building plan.
- Realization > doing it; results in project results.
- Aftercare > operation and maintenance; making it operational and providing
aftercare, using the project results and adapting them.

Concept:
The project exist only as a problem or an idea. Something needs to be undertaken.
- Investigation
- Rough estimation of the extent of the problem
- Desired result
- Feasibility of the project.

Definition:
The project objectives will emerge now and must be established.
