P6
Follow guidelines to interpret collected data for heart rate, breathing rate and
temperature before and after a standard period of exercise
M3
Present data collected before and after a standard period of exercise with reference to
validity
Hypothesis: I believe that during physical activity the heart rate and breathing rate will increase,
with the blood pressure decreasing as opposed to a relaxed state.
Equipment required:
Heart rate monitor
Stop watch
Method:
Ensure the individual has a resting period of at least 5 minutes to be sure they are in a relaxed
state.
Measure pulse BPM, respiration RPM and blood pressure, shown as resting obs.
Next a 2 minute exercise period was begun, with the pulse, respiration and blood pressure being
recorded immediately afterwards.
After this, 3 more bursts of 2 minute exercise periods were undertaken with the results being
recorded after each.
