5 Nutritional Content Contained in Miracle Fruit

“Magic fruit is rich in miraculin which can change sour taste to sweet. In addition, this
fruit also contains several nutrients that are beneficial for health.

Ever heard of or know about miracle fruit ? Miracle fruit is a bright red berry the size of a
coffee bean.

The fruit, which has the Latin name Synsepalum dulcificum, originates from West and
Central Africa, but has become increasingly popular in many countries around the world
thanks to its health benefits.

As the name implies, miracle fruit has a magical ingredient that can change the taste of food
from sour to sweet. Not only that, this small fruit also has many nutrients that are good for
health.

iracle Fruit Nutrition Content

Named the miracle fruit , because this one fruit is rich in miraculin, which is a type of
glycoprotein which is a protein with a sugar molecule attached to an amino acid. It can turn
highly acidic foods, such as vinegar, lemon, pickles and mustard , into sweet by binding to
taste receptors on the tongue.

So, when you eat sour foods, miraculin binds to proteins and activates sweet receptors. This
change in taste can last for about 30 minutes, or until the miraculin is diluted with
saliva. Thanks to this miraculous ability, miracle fruit has long been used as a food flavoring.

In addition to the content of miraculin, magic fruit also has a variety of nutrients that can
provide health benefits, including:

1. Vitamins

Miracle fruit is an extraordinary source of Vitamin C, K, A and E which are essential for the
health of the body. Vitamin C can stimulate the production of white blood cells which are the
body's first defense against infections and pathogens. Together with vitamin E, vitamin C is
an antioxidant that can fight free radicals that can damage cells in the body. While vitamin K
plays a role in blood clotting, and vitamin A can maintain eye health.

2. Amino acids

Miracle fruit is also full of amino acids, especially leucine. Among the amino acids present,
leucine is unique, as it is the only amino acid that promotes protein synthesis in muscle.

3. Fiber

Magic fruit is also known for its benefits that can help you lose weight. Apart from being low
in calories and 0 percent fat, these healthy foods also contain fiber which can help make you
feel full longer.
