This week as we look at the treadmill of production we get personal. What
is your experience and how has it shaped your patterns of consumption.

Hello Professor & Class,
For my personal story on being trapped on the treadmill of consumption. I
would say that being a woman when it comes to beauty products and
services, it's something that I struggle with. I love buying hair ,getting my
hair and nails done. I also love makeup; things such as lipsticks, eyes
shadows and blush are my weakness. The
, reason why I consider myself to be trapped on the treadmill of
consumption because these thing are not necessities, they are just
wants. I do it because I love looking nice and feeling nice. Its like my way
of pampering myself and also keeping up with the latest beauty trends. I
can change up my look or style and get a desired look.

Good evening Pr.Balfour, this is a great subject concerning social
consumption. I learned a lot by reading the previous article. Also, for my
personal story of being trapped in the treadmill of consumption, I can say
that as a woman it has been very difficult for me to prioritize my needs
from my desires. We women kind of want to be trendy on everything,
have the last bag and lipstick which always makes us want more and by
consequences spend and consume more than we should.

This is a very interesting topic for me actually. I constantly battle with
myself about filling my life with things. I feel that I am on the opposite
end though. I go back and forth with my morals when it comes to making
the smallest to the largest of purchases. My wife and I have actually
moved 3 times in the last year with our latest being tiny home living. The
majority of our belongings are at a storage facility and we are thinking of
selling it as a bundle pretty soon because we have not physically been to
it in about 4 months now . I pride myself on not falling into trends. If it's
not timeless, purposeful and meaningful, why buy it.

Hi Stedmen, thank you for an interesting response. How is the tiny home
experience and what is the best lesson you can share with the class from
living in a tiny home?

I think the best lesson I've learned is that we truly don't need much to be
happy. It has also left me a lot of time to dedicate myself to being more
