Story of Terrible Adventure
Last year I went to Merapi Mountain with my friends, we were so excited about it. We left my house
and went to a small city near the foothills, we went there by car. When we arrived, the weather was
cold, so we wore thick jackets to keep warm. Before we start climbing, we pray first for our safety,
then we start to climb the mountain. This is our first time climbing Mount Merapi, so we were
accompanied by a tour guide to accompany our climb.
While we walked, the tour guide was so harsh and rude towards us that we didn't even get a chance
to take a break until we arrived at the first post. We finally could take a break and ate some snacks.
After that, we continue the climb. We started to go into the woods, and the way is getting harder to
climb. The tour guide kept talking about the myth of this mountain
The day started to get dark and we had to immediately build a tent so that we could take a rest.
After the tent was up I lay down and we could see the sky and so I realized that there was a hole in
the roof of the tent. We have to cover it as soon as possible because it's getting really cold and
colder. Luckily it didn't rain, otherwise, we could get soaked by it. We began to feel starving, so we
cooked instant noodles for dinner. After that, we were surprised that we saw something behind the
tree. Not long after one of my friends got possessed and we could only pray for her and the ghost
finally disappeared. Then we fell asleep because tomorrow we must wake up early and continue our
climbs to the top of the mountain.
When I tried to sleep, I heard a crowd not far away from our tent. I wonder what happened in that
crowd. Then I came out of the tent and it was so dark that it required me to bring a flashlight. when I
came out of the tent, everything was very quiet, but I could still hear the noise from the crowd. I
walked toward the source of the crowd how surprised I was when I traced the origin of the crowd,
and it turned out to be a market. The market was very crowded, lots of food and souvenirs were
being sold by those people. I’m curious why there could be a market. Then I remember what the
tour guide said don't be tempted by the crowd that brings us to the market, it’s a ghost market. It's
called “Pasar Bubrah”. I immediately felt goosebumps and fear that made me run away from that
place and back to the tent and went to sleep.
The next day we must clean up our tent and other stuff. Then we keep walking and finally, we
reached the top of the mountain and we took a bunch of pictures while we were there. When we
want to go back down it was smooth, nothing is bothering us. And when we arrived at the foothills
we were picked up by a car and we went home safely. It was a fun and terrible experience that I had
from climbing Merapi Mountain.
