In "Anomic Suicide," Durkheim (1951) avers how anomic suicide occurs and suggests how society is responsible for reducing anomie. Durkheim (1951) argues that anomic suicide results from an individual's consequent sufferings and lack of regulations and proclaims that they are fundamentally subject to provisions dictated by society. The author indicates that commercial and industrial functions have a high significance in the cases of suicides reported compared to fields such as agriculture. Further, Durkheim (1951) confirms that the many reported suicide cases are among employers compared to workers. The proclamations show that the haves in society who are more comfortable with their economic status suffer the most, and anomy is crucial in assessing suicides. Consequently, from Durhneim's (1951) publication, it is evident that anomic suicide occurs from relaxing social conventions and religious activities or social instability. Further, social cohesion is critical in reducing anomy in society.
