1. What do you mean by communication? What are their types?

Ans. Communication is simply the act of transferring information from one place, person or group to
another. Every communication involves (at least) one sender, a message and a recipient.
Communication can be categorized into five basic types:
(1) Verbal communication, in which you listen to a person to understand their meaning;
(2) Written communication, in which you read their meaning;
(3) Nonverbal communication, in which you observe a person and try to understand meaning.
(4) Formal communication is also known as official communication. Examples of formal communication are -
business letters, reports, orders, etc.
(5) Informal communication is also known as grapevine communication. Examples of informal
communication are face-to-face communication, telephonic conversations, etc.
Each has its own advantages, disadvantages, and even pitfalls.
2. What are the five principles of effective communication? List them in the order of their importance
according to you.

Ans. In order to develop effective communication skills we need to consider the following 5
basic principles:

 Awareness,
 Responsibility,
 Respect,
 Trust,
 Creativity.


3. What are the 7Cs of communication? Which one is the most important as per you and why?

Ans. They are applicable to both oral and written communication.

 Clarity: Simplicity.
 Conciseness: Get to the Point.
 Concreteness: Specifics Instead of Generalizations.
 Completeness: No Necessary Information is missing.
 Correctness: Facts & Proofreading.
 Courtesy: Courtesy means expressions of the sender should be sincerely polite and respectful.
 Consideration: Consideration means to understand the receiver’s background, perspective, education
etc.

,4. What is the difference between verbal and non- verbal communication? Explain with examples.

Ans. Verbal communication uses language, words, sentences, and voice as the medium of

communication. Examples: telephonic conversations, face-to-face meetings, speeches and

presentations, videoconferences, etc

Nonverbal communication uses body language, facial expressions, tone, and pauses in speech as the

medium of communication. Examples: Smiling, raising your eyebrows, and furrowing your brow

etc.

5. Write five Do’s and Don’ts of effective body language.

Ans. Five Do’s:

(i) Make eye contact but don’t share

(ii) Have a calm behavior

(iii) Listen intently

(iv) Smile and act natural

(v) Be natural with gestures and postures.

Five Don’ts:

(i) Avoid touching your face

(ii) No leaning back and sitting casually.

(iii) Do not avoid making eye contact.

(iv) Do not sit in cross armed position

(v) Do not use doubtful sign.

6. Explain the eight parts of speech? Use them in a paragraph and show each component.

Ans. There are four types of English sentence, classified by their purpose:

 Declarative sentence (statement)- The rose is red.
 Interrogative sentence (question)- Is the rose red?
 Imperative sentence (command)- Look at the red rose.
 Exclamatory sentence (exclamation)- I love the red rose.
8. What is the importance of feedback in the communication process? Explain various types of
feedback.
Ans. Feedback is about listening actively, taking the time to analyze, and then thinking of the best
possible solution to perform better by the receiver. It provides positive criticism and allows to see
what everyone can change to improve their focus and results. It brings people together and
creates a healthy communication flow.

9. Write any four advantages of non-verbal communication.
Ans. Following are the major advantages of non-verbal communication:
 Complementary.
 Easy presentation.
 Substituting.
 Repeat.
 Help to illiterate people.
10. What are different articles used in communication? Explain with suitable examples.

Ans. In English there are three articles: a, an, and the. Articles are used before nouns or noun equivalents
and are a type of adjective. 'A' and 'An' are called Indefinite Articles while 'The' is called Definite
Article. A/An are used before singular countable nouns when they are indefinite and introduced for the first
time. Use A Before a Consonant Sound. Use AN Before a Vowel Sound.
Examples:
The President of India is going to visit the US soon.
Sita sang a song.
This is an umbrella.

1. What do you mean by Self-management?
Ans. Self-management refers to management of or by oneself. It means taking responsibility for one’s own
behavior and wellness.
2. What do you mean by Stress?
Ans. Stress refers to a physical, mental or emotional strain. Stress is one of the important reasons for low
productivity in all stages of life. Stress drains one’s energy and impedes day-to-day work and peace of mind.

, 3. Write short note on “Stress Management”.
Ans. Stress management refers to focusing on maintaining a healthy body and mind to handle stressful
situations.
Stress is an unavoidable part of life, be it due to family issue, a fight with friend or an approaching exam.
4. What are various causes of stress? Explain with examples.
Ans. following are the major causes of stress:
(i) Mental- It is easy to get stressed due to examinations and assignments.
(ii) Physical- Youngsters can become conscious of their looks while coping with hormonal changes.
(iii) Social- Managing relationships and friendships can be difficult in today’s time of social media and societal
expectations.
(iv) Financial- Youngsters want to be financially independent. This creates financial pressure on them.
5. What is the significance of Stress management?
Ans. Stress management is important because:
-Boosts immune system
-Helps in increasing lifespan
-checks distractions in life
-Prevents psychological and other behavioral disorders.
6. List down some stress management techniques.

7. What are the benefits of working independently?

8. How to enhance the ability to work independently?
Ans. The ability to work independently can be enhanced by being self-aware, self-motivated and self-regulated.
(i) Self-awareness- It is about conscious of your own self skills and feelings. It helps individuals to chat their
ways for working independently.
(ii) Self-motivation- self-motivated individuals have a higher chance of achieving their goals as they have an
internal push to do something.
(iii) Self-regulation- self-motivation helps us to consider long term consequences rather than just passing
feelings.
9. What are different types of self-awareness?
Ans. There are four areas of self-awareness that you should continuously develop:
