Virus Ans- Can live and reproduce only by taking over other cells and becoming part of them. Cannot be

BACTERIA Ans- One Cell Microorganism that have both plant and animal characteristics. Can live and

Fungi Ans- Microscopic plant parasite that include mold, mildew and yeasts.
ANAEROBIC BACTERIA Ans- Bacteria that does not need oxygen to grow or survive.

COCCI Ans- Round-shaped bacteria that appear singly (alone) or in groups. The three types of cocci are
staphylococci, streptococci, and diplococci.
Staphylococci Ans- Pus-forming bacteria that grow in clusters like a bunch of grapes. They cause
abscesses, pustules, and boils.

cause infections such as strep throat and blood poisoning.
Diplococci Ans- Spherical bacteria that grow in pairs and cause diseases such as pneumonia
BACILLI Ans- Short rod-shaped bacteria. They are the most common bacteria and produce diseases such
as tetanus (lockjaw), typhoid fever, tuberculosis, and diphtheria.
SPIRILLA Ans- Causes Syphilis and STD's, Lyme Disease. (Corkscrew Shaped)
PARASITES Ans- Organisms that grow, feed and shelter off another organism. Must have a host to
survive.
CILIA Ans- Hair like extensions on cells, Move in a rowing motion
FAGELLA Ans- Slender, hairlike extensions used by bacilli and spirilla for locomation (moving about). May
also be referred to as cilia.
