• To understand the risk factors predisposing to
preterm labour
• To be aware of the signs, symptoms and clinical
presentation of preterm labor
• To understand the aetiologies and differential
diagnosis of preterm labour
• To be able to discuss the management of preterm
labour

Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes (PPROM)
• To understand the history, physical findings and diagnostic
methods to confirm preterm premature rupture of membranes
(PPROM)
• To list the risk factors predisposing to PPROM
• To understand the risks and benefits of expectant management
versus immediate delivery in the setting of PPROM
• To be aware of the methods of monitoring the mother and the
fetal status during expectant management of PPROM
• To be aware of outcome with PPROM at very preterm or
periviable gestations
