• To describe and interpet characteristics in detail
the different methods of • To observe at least 1 FBS
fetal surveillance during (fetal blood sampling) and

fluid quality, CTG and • To observe at least one

operative vaginal delivery
• To be aware of (vacuum or forceps)
interventions used in the
management of abnormal • To observe at least one
labour caesarean section

, Normal Labour
Defined as:
Beginning from 37- 42 weeks, progressing at an
acceptable rate and resulting in the spontaneous
vaginal delivery(SVD) of a live neonate in good
condition in the occipitoanterior position
Any deviation from this is ‘abnormal labour’
