,Knowledge objectives (History)
• The student should demonstrate the ability to perform a
thorough obstetric-gynaecological history including personal
details, presenting complaint, menstrual history, obstetric
history, gynaecological history, contraceptive history, drug
history, sexual history, family history and social history.
• Interact with the patient to gain her confidence and to
develop an appreciation of the effect of her age, racial and
cultural background.
• Communicate the results of the obstetric-gynaecologic and
general medical history by well organised written and oral
reports.

The student will demonstrate the ability to :
• Interact with the patient to gain her confidence and
cooperation, and assure her comfort and modesty.
• Perform a painless gynaecological examination as part of a
woman’s general medical examination
• Communicate the relevant results of the examination in well-
organised written and oral reports.
• Share results.

, Skills objectives (History)
• During the rotation you should attend the gynae clinics allocated, take
history each time and present it to the doctor running the clinic.
• You should be able to use the medical terminologies listed when
discussing your cases with the doctor and to avoid using them when
taking the history from the patient.
• You are required to obtain and present the following gynaecological cases
– a case of ectopic pregnancy, a case of hysterectomy, a case of infertility,
a case of pelvic organ prolapse or urinary incontinence and a case of
laparoscopy or hysteroscopy
• Opportunities to obtain these cases are found on the Gynae Ward, in the
Outpatient Department and during time spent at the infertility services
