What is the function of the endocrine system?” Is a network of glands that produce and release hormones that help control many important functions. ”2. Research two types of hormones and describe the mode of action for each. ” Adrenaline is secreated by the adrenal glands, its purpose is to increase blood pressure, heart rate, and metabolism in reaction to stress. Estrogen is released by the ovaries, its purpose is to regulate menstrual cycle, maintain pregnancy and develop female sex characteristics. ”3. Which gland is both endocrine and exocrine? ” The pancreas ”4. Which hormones control the fight or flight response? ” adrenaline ”5. What is type 1 diabetes and what is the treatment for this disease? ” A condition where pancreas produces little or no insulin. Treatment is to take insulin and diet control. ”6. Describe how Ca2+ levels in the blood are regulated by hormones. ” The parathyroid hormone regulates the calcium levels in the blood. ”7. How do the nervous and endocrine systems work together to maintain homeostasis of the body? ” Well the nervous systems encomposes the brain and nerves. The brain senses changes in the body then activates or sends signals to the endocrine system to release hormones. Then when the nervous systems recieves signals that the body is no in homestasis then it sends signal to the endocrine system to stop secreating hormones.
