THE PLAINT IN GENERAL

The plaint is the pleading in which the
plaintiff states the basis of the lawsuit.
Generally the plaint does the
following:
(1) Identifies the plaintiffs and defendants in
the lawsuit, and describes their status and
capacity to sue and be sued
(2) Describes the factual basis for the lawsuit
(3) Makes a request or demand for
some relief from the court.
(4) Contains a statement showing that the
court in which it is filed has the proper
jurisdiction and venue.
