Discuss the importance of a year plan in order to teach the life skills
curriculum successfully.
A year plan is of great importance in any subject because it provides a frame work
for teachers to use and plan their daily activities. A year plan does not only outline
term dates or holidays but can also include assessment dates and other extra
activities which can disturb an academic period. This can be prevented when the
educator uses the year plan when planning academic lessons.
During life skills, a year plan a be used to an advantage when knowledge and skill
are applicable towards the year plan or even the calendar. For example, the teacher
can use Mandela day to implement" caring for others" learning activities. This will
make the learning content more relatable which means a higher percentage active
cooperating learning.
A year plan can also provide a 'clear picture' of what is expected. A year plan can
also be an outline of the syllabus or curriculum provided by the Department of
Education. This annual teaching plan is like the back bone of any education and
educators are required to implement this year plan in to their lessons. In life skills,
the annual teaching plan provides time needed to complete each unit and activities
which involves: Physical Education, personal and social well-being and creative arts
