B. COUNTY HEALTH TRENDS & RANKINGS
1. Introductory Paragraph
Health Trends were obtained by using the County Health and Rankings Roadmap website,
where I was able to search my county specifically and review areas that are problematic, thriving or
not changing in my community. Health trends I chose to focus on were, adult obesity, physical
inactivity in the adult population, sexually transmitted infections, alcohol related driving deaths,
premature deaths, children living in poverty and violent crime rates (County Health Rankings and
Roadmaps [CHRR], 2019). Adult obesity, violent crime and sexually transmitted infections are
among the things that are not improving in Hamilton County. Premature deaths, violent crimes,
alcohol related driving deaths and physical inactivity are showing signs of improvement, but I am
concerned there is not enough improvement in these areas (CHRR, 2019). The purpose of
reviewing health trends that are problematic or improving is to determine the strengths and
weaknesses of the county. In order to become a better version, there will be changes that need to be
made, policies instituted and prevention strategies utilized. I think it is important to focus on both
good and bad, because when people are faced with facts, they may have more urgency to change
their lifestyles.
