Challenging yourself is the key to achieving your
endeavours
I was only five years old when my world changed forever. One afternoon, I
woke up with my father to discover that my mother had left us, and it took
us three days to find out she had made the biggest decision of her life - to
divorce my father. It was a shocking time for us, but we had to accept it.
Three months later, my mother and I moved to Mysore. I remember our
new home being completely empty, apart from a floor mat. When I was 16,
I often had only 20 to 30 rupees in my pocket and I would share idlis with
my friends, dividing one plate between us. But from there, I worked hard
every day, earning 5,300 rupees a month at age 16, and now I run three
companies.
Today, I'm proud to be a recipient of the Karnataka Women Achievers
Awards - a brand that aims to be a voice for all women who have made
history and created magic. I want to share my story and inspire other
women in India to never give up on their dreams or potential, no matter the
obstacles they face.
The Karnataka Women Achievers Award is a renowned brand, but one day,
my mother unexpectedly helped me. She broke her fixed deposit of 50 lakh
rupees and gave me 12 lakh rupees to support my pursuit of creating a
brand. Her act of kindness was a source of motivation for me.
According to Dr. Ravi Agrawal, 75 percent of Indians are unskilled. That
means they lack communication skills, leadership skills, entrepreneurial
skills and overall professional skills.
My greatest dream is to travel to 100 countries before I die.
My personal elixir is to focus on three things. First, I want to create trends,
particularly in the tea industry and help people create personal and
company brands. Second, I wish to train people to develop necessary skills
that can help them achieve their life goals.
