Georgia specifically, there are more than one hundred fifty counties. In the United States, there
are more than seven thousand facilities for inmates in total. In Georgia specifically, there are
more than ninety of those buildings. Today, I’ll be talking about the jails in my county, Bartow
County. There are a total of six jails present in my county. It includes the Cartersville Police
Department, the Adairsville Police Department, the Emerson Police Department, the Euharlee
Police Department, the Kingston Police Department, and the White Police Department.
In this first part, we will discuss the establishments of the police departments mentioned earlier
or right above. The Carterville police department was established in 1889. The Adairsville police
department was established in 1910. The Emerson police department was established in 1927.
The Euharlee police department was established in 1918. The Kingston police department was
established in 1883. The White police department establishment was not specified.
In this next part, we will discuss the administrative structures and numbers of employees for each
department. Most jails are run by the Deputy Chief of Police, including the ones in my county.
Something different about my county departments is that they are all under the command of the
main Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, which is in Cartersville, GA. There are no privatized jails
in my county, but I will discuss some information about those later in the writing. The number of
employees differs among facilities. Cartersville has more than sixty, Adairsville has more than
fifteen, Emerson has more than ten, Euharlee has more than fifteen, Kingston has more than
twenty, and White has more than ten.
