PHI 413V Topic 3 Assignment Case Study on Biomedical Ethics in the Christian Narrative - Healing and Autonomy Spring 2023
Being Christian, one must essentially balance both spiritual and physical life. When a person, specifically a Christian, puts their faith and belief in God it profoundly impacts their quality of life. This is shown in their daily life, especially in their acceptance of all things. The biggest challenge, or challenging question, Christians often face is, ‘Why does God allow illness without providing the cure?’ Being faced with a health issue can put one’s faith and belief to the ultimate test and remaining true to God during this time can be challenging in and of itself. The following analysis of the Healing and Autonomy Case Study will look at the Christian Narrative and the Christian Vision along with biomedical ethics in response to the pressing issues of respect for autonomy, nonmaleficence, beneficence and justice. “For every bioethical question, one must seek to act according to these principles. For each case there will be details, circumstances, and factors that must be taken into account” (Lecture 3, 2015).
