presents its data through graphic formats. Rosling showed I can see why the
title of the video is “The best stats you’ve ever seen.” Rosling is ahead of his
time and has mastered the way to gather data to create a database and from
a database to a visualization of information. Not only he is a great
statistician; he is extremely passionate in his data and work.
Rosling stated that data is hidden in the databases. Most of us are not using
and reading data efficiently. Looking at numbers of data and spreadsheets,
and putting a price to it is not working out for the public people. While there
are many design tools are on the Internet, most people are not utilizing it.
Schools, colleges and many companies are not teaching students and
professionals how to use software such as Illustrator, After Effects, Freehand,
and Flash. Most people are still using Excel and Google Sheets today without
any visualization of their data. Rosling used diagrams, and charts in
everything slide of his presentation. Best of the all, the slides are fluid,
showing moving dots and circles from one year to another. I believe
visualizing data helps to understand the data better. Hans Rosling created a
website called GapMinder.org that transforms real-world data into
visualization. The data that he pulls are real-world problems such as low
income and poverty. Big data is still a relatively new field, as most people still
do not know how to sort all the data to readable information. While data is
important, proper visualization equally important in the sense that it makes
data more enjoyable and easier to understand.
