Introduction
Plant-based nutrition refers to the consumption of a diet that is entirely derived from
plants. This comprises vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, and fruits. This research outlines
the evolution of the Benelux population to a more plant-based diet. Health research shows that
consumption of plant-based diets tends to lower body mass index as well as the rates of obesity,
diabetes, and heart diseases. Similarly, plants based diets are rich in fiber, complex
carbohydrates, and water which is essential in the human body such a diet also enhances the
immune system.
Research methodology
Research methodology can be either inductive or deductive. The inductive approach in
research proposal is based on theory, the researcher generates theory based on the data collected.
In this approach research questions are stated which guide the researcher, this approach leads to a
qualitative kind of research. Also with this approach data analysis is done repeatedly and the
results are compared with the existing theories before the conclusion is made. The deductive
approach is mainly concerned with the testing of an existing theory this is why it is typically
associated with scientific investigation (Soiferman, 2010). With the deductive approach the
researcher studies what others have studied then tests the hypotheses that emerge from the
theories. Our case of a plant-based diet is a deductive kind of approach.
Explanatory research is the design that focuses on clarifying the aspects of a given study.
This enables people to understand something by either describing or illustrating. This helps to
explore the research questions but does not suggest the conclusion to an existing problem. While
the exploratory method is used to investigate a given problem that is not defined. This is mainly
