1. "Comparison tests" sheet:
a) "Tablet Weight" column: The sample data represents the weights of tablets from an experimental
batch produced after a process change. Did the Historical Process Average for the tablet weight of
150 mg change after the process change? Explain.
b) "Machine-1" and "Machine-2" columns: Compare the data for the electrical resistance (ohms) of
the “Resistor” parts produced on two different machines using a 2-sample t-Test. Are the process
means for resistance the same for both machines?
c) "Batch 01", "Batch 02", "Batch 03", and "Batch 04" columns: Compare the fill volumes (mL) of
bottles filled on the same equipment in 4 batches using different operational settings. Use the One-
way ANOVA tool on the Stat menu. Are all process means the same for the 4 batches analyzed? If
not, which means are different?
Hint: Click on the “Comparisons” button in the ANOVA dialog box and select the “Tukey” checkbox.
2. "NonNormal Analysis" sheet:
a) "Impurity content" column: Determine if the data from 30 batches that were produced after
changing a raw material in the process indicates that the median impurity levels in the product have
decreased from the historical average of 0.35%.
Hint: use “Stat>Nonparametrics>1-sample sign” test.
b) "Cases per day" and "SOP Change" columns: Is there an improvement in the total number of cases
manufactured per day after an SOP Change in the operation of Line 5 Case Packer?
Hint: use the “Stat>Nonparametrics >Kruskal-Wallis” Test.

Problem 1:

of 150 mg change after the process change? Explain.
No, the process average was not maintained. The new average is 148.5 mg. A histogram was
created of the data, and this is the new mean of the sample which can be seen below.
