✪CONTROL AND COORDINATION
★CONTROL
It is the power of restraining and regula- tion by which something can be started, slawed down
or stopped.
★COORDINATION
It is working together of various organs of the body of an organism in proper manner to produce
an appropriate reaction to a Stimulus.
It is of two types:1.chemical & Nervous Coordination
•Nervous System
It is a completex network of nerves and cells and carry messages to and from the brain and
spinal cord to various parts of the body.
•Receptors
They are group of cells which are present in all the sense organs and they detect change in
environment or they can respond to change in environment.
•There are three Important part of Nervous
System:
1. Brain
2. Spinal cord
3. Nerves.
•There are Five Sense organs in our body:
Organ Work Receptors Present
1. Ear | Hear Sound | Phono receptors
2. Eyes | See light. | Photo receptors
3. Nose | Smell |Olfactory receptors
something
4. Tongue| Taste |Gustatory receptors
something
5 Skin | Feels temp-|Thermo receptors
erature
(Hot/cold)
•Nerve cell
•It is a basic functional unit of the nervous
system that recieves and sends messages from body to the brain and back to the body.
•It is also called Neurons.
, •It is the longest cell of the body, length about (100cm)
There are three parts of Neurons:-
1. Dendrites
2. Axon
3. Cell body
1.Dendrites:- These are the finger like cells present on the end of the Neuron.
•Structure:- They are short branching fibres extending from the cell body of nerve cell.
Function:- It increases surface area available For receiving incoming information.
2.Axon:- It is a long, slender projection of a nerve cell.
Function:- The transmission of information to different neurons
3.cell body:-
•It is the core secretion of neuron.
•It is also known as Somal It is star shaped.
function:-
It contains genetic information, maintains the neurons structure, and provides energy to drive
activity.
•Synapse
It is the point of contact between the terminal branches of the axon of one neuron with the
dendrite of another neuron.
•Electrical Impulse
An action potential, also called a nerve impulse, is an electric charge that travels along the
membrane of a neuron.
•Reflex Actions
A sudden action which is done by us in response to something in the environment. Eg. When
we touch a flame, we think consciously about the pain and possibility of getting burnt, and
therefore move our hand suddenly.
•Reflex Arcs
The process of detecting the signal or the input and responding to it by an output action might
be Completed quickly such a connection is commonly called reflex arc.
★Human Brain
The brain is a complex organ, that controls thought, memory, emotion, touch, motor skills etc.
•It is the control unit of Nervous system.
