, PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY OF NURSING 2
One of my challenges after graduating from high school was to find a career that I
was going to enjoy, but also that I was going to be able to make a difference in people
life. I was confused since I did not know what career path to choose. I went to see a
counselor who advise me to take the career aptitude test. The test showed that I had a lot
of potential in the health care field base on certain traits I had. I decided to go to nursing.
As I was going to nursing school, I found that it was the perfect fit for me. After I started
working as a nurse, I realize that compassion is a fundamental part of nursing care. This
can be easily faded, when there is no equilibrium for physical and spiritual self which
respect human dignity. Nurses through their days at work deal with a lot of stress, fatigue
and received pressure from multiple polls. Some of them burnout early and have chosen
another jobs or careers and leave the profession much earlier than expected. I have read
many nursing theory but the one that stood out for me was Watson’s philosophy of
nursing. Watson philosophy embraces caring as a corner stone for the fundamental basis
of nursing practice which promote human values and practice loving kindness with self
and others. I believe that cultivating caring in oneself is vital in order to reach out and to
build a trusting professional relationship with others. I will discuss my personal point of
view of nursing, person, health and the environment. One of the major components of
nursing is to be able to communicate verbal and non-verbal cues effectively in a simple
way to be understood by patients and other health care professionals. In addition, we will
explore the strength and weaknesses associated with my style of communication and the
impact on my ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
