Course Description
This course is an introductory course that covers historical, current, and
forward-thinking topics regarding the PA profession. In this course students
will explore trends and issues contributing to the history of the PA
profession, PA education and training, PA scope of practice and regulatory
issues, and PA professional resources available.

the physician assistant profession.
3.Demonstrate general knowledge of the education surrounding
the physician assistant profession.

organizations important to physician assistants.
5.Demonstrate general knowledge of important concepts related
to the employment of physician assistants in primary care.
6.Demonstrate general knowledge of important concepts related
to the employment of physician assistants in non-primary care
specializations.
7.Demonstrate general knowledge of important concepts related
to the employment of physician assistants in hospital settings.
8.Demonstrate general knowledge of the important concepts related
to the employment of physician assistants in rural health.
9.Demonstrate knowledge of concepts related to the economic
assessment of physician assistants.
10. Demonstrate general knowledge of important legal aspects
of physician assistant practice.
11. Demonstrate an understanding of the role of the physician

Pre-requisites
Admission to the didactic year of the program and successful progression through
curricular MPAS courses prior to this semester.
