Tort law is a branch of civil law that deals with harm caused to a person or their property by another person's wrongful act. The harm can be physical, emotional, or financial. In a tort case, the injured party (plaintiff) seeks compensation or damages from the person who caused the harm (defendant). Tort law covers a wide range of legal issues, including negligence, intentional torts, and strict liability. Negligence occurs when the defendant fails to exercise reasonable care, resulting in harm to the plaintiff. Intentional torts occur when the defendant intends to cause harm to the plaintiff, such as assault, battery, false imprisonment, or defamation. Strict liability applies when a defendant is held liable for harm caused regardless of fault or intention, such as in product liability cases. Tort law aims to provide compensation to the injured party for their losses and deter others from committing similar wrongful acts in the future. It also serves as a means of holding individuals and companies accountable for their actions and promoting social responsibility. Overall, tort law plays an important role in protecting the rights of individuals and promoting a fair and just society
