force - GDC policy
force used by facility staff to control an unruly offender shall not exceed that required to
maintain positive control. the force used shall be the least severe method reasonably
believed necessary & shall cease when control is realized
Use of force continuum - Level of Resistance
− Verbal non-compliance: saying no, threats, insults
− Passive: sits down
− Defensive: pushing or pulling away
− Active aggression: fighting
− Deadly force: with intent to cause death or serious bodily injury
