How did traditional criminology, using sociological explanations, explain crime among
women?
Traditionally, women have been considered a weak gender and the most vulnerable
gender in society. In this case, there is little that was associated with women ad crime in the
society in the old days and in most of the recent day crimes. Women, as compared to men, were
supposed to stay home and handle most of the household chores essentially as men go out to
handle other hardcore duties and responsibilities. In this observation, women are less likely to
interact with situations that will cause them to commit various crimes in society. Men, however,
are considered to be more involved in the criminal activities since they interact with more people
and are faced with more activities and face decision making actions which might motivate them
to get engaged in criminal activities. In the event of judgments, women were also given lighter
punishments than men (Jones, 2017). This is by the fact that the women in the society were not
considered to be hardcore criminals just like men were. The giving of light punishments to
women in the society when they committed crimes to lead to the evolvement of women in a way
that they formed various groups so that they could push for lesser punishments and lesser
judgments on their crimes.

society than women and in this case, women, even if they commit crimes, are considered not to
