Question 3: Do a “mock walk-thru” of your bedroom. Using the concepts described in our
textbook, describe what you see.
All the time, we are surrounded by evidences and any possible traces to who we are
without our notice. The living places in most cases are full of evidences of the people using the
places and the tools alongside the materials present at the scenes. Further, if someone intrudes
the private living places, there are possible ways that their evidence can be easily separated from
the ones f the common users of the places and the equipment and tools that are present. This is
the case with the mock walk through in my bedroom. There are lots of equipments and materials
that I use on a daily basis and on this note, I am able to be identified with these equipments since
my DNA and other physical evidences can be traced back to me.
To start with, the cigarettes in my bedroom where I smoke from is a possible source of
my DNA evidence from my saliva. In case of an investigation, the authorities will collect the
cigarette filters and carry out a forensic analysis of the saliva on the cigarette remains and will be
able to identify me. Further, my blankets, bed sheets and other beddings are a possible source of
DNA evidence that can be extracted from the sweat left on them. The same sweat can be
extracted from the dirty clothes that I wear like my underwear which I mostly keep in my
bedroom. These are other possible sources of DNA evidence essentially. I have a play station
installed in my bedroom and I at the same time use my computer from my bedroom reading
table. This is a possible source of my fingerprints in the sense that the keyboards can be dusted
and analyzed for an easier identification of the user. The gaming p[ads at the same time can be
dusted to give my fingerprints which can be used to identify me as well.
