Parallelen en meridianen:Parallel lopen van oost naar west en zijn 180 van. Meridianen lopen van
Noordpool naar Zuidpool en zijn 360 van.




Hoofdstuk 2
Opbouw atmosfeer: de atmosfeer of
dampkring is de lucht om de aarde. In
onderste tien kilometer van troposfeer
speelt zich het weer af. Deze lucht
bestaat uit 78% stikstof, 21% zuurstof en
3% andere gassen (o.a. koolstofdioxide).
Koolstofdioxide is een broeikasgas die de
warmte van de zon in de atmosfeer
vasthoudt. De atmosfeer beschermt ook
tegen meteorieten. De meeste brokken
stenen verbranden als ze de dampkring
invallen. De ozonlaag (in stratosfeer)
beschermt tegen gevaarlijke ultraviolette
straling.
