INTRODUCTIONS
For all round development of a nation , transportation system plays and important rule. There are
three modes of transport systems such as air , water and surfaces transport mode. Again surface
transport modes are two types such as rail transport and road trans port. Surface transport system
meet the requirement of most of the people. Again it serves as feeder to other transport system.
Road transport is very vital as it not only serves as feeder to all the remaining transportation mood
but also it can reach to every door steps.
But surface transport system is incomplete with out bridges. Bridges are the structures constructed
over the obstructions for the connectivity of the road or rail from both sides of the obstructions. The
obstructions are river, stream, drain, valleys, canals ,road for railways and railways for roads.
There are 6 basic forms of bridge structures such as
1- Beam and slab bridges
2- Truss bridges
3- Arch bridges
4- Cantilever bridges
5- Suspension bridges
6- Cable stayed bridges
, Beam and slab bridges .It carries all the loads by bending or flexure . girder or beams may be sinple
RCC or it may be of prestressed concrete.
