1.1 Nandipha Mntambo is a modern South African artist whose works are known for
being creative and making people think. She was born in Swaziland in 1982 and grew
up there. Mntambo's early experiences with the different people and places in these
areas had a big impact on her art.
In 2005, Mntambo finished her bachelor's degree in Fine Arts at the University of Cape
Town. She then went to London's elite Wimbledon College of Arts to get a Master's in
Fine Arts. She graduated in 2007. During her studies, Mntambo became very
interested in how human and animal shapes fit together. She used different art styles
to show what she was thinking.
