Site Activity Safety Methodology
1. Always wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
before entering construction site premises.
COLLEGE OF LAW Installing Tiles 2. Qualified and skilled workers should be assigning to the
installation.
3. Unload of tiles by mechanical means and stored. Each
tile shall be loaded into trolley and transported to
installation area.
4. To unload place and lay tiles by hand into position over
neatly cement screed. Use gloves and safety shoes by
lifting the tiles.
5. Protect your working area with warning flags or
signage.
6. The areas of the concrete substrate to be tiled shall be
cleaned from dust, debris, and projections and wetted
with water before installation. Any surface water shall
be removed.
7. Ensure that waterproofing for wet areas is already done
including leak test before tilling work.
8. After cleaning the slab, mix a cement slurry and pour at
the area where the installation occurs before the mortar
bedding.
9. Follow the approved drawing where the first tile’s
location installed, first tiles should be the guide for
installation.
10. Make sure your wearing gloves, eye glasses, and masks
while using tile cutter.
11. Cut the tiles neatly and accurately.
12. Discard any tiles that are chipped or cracked.
13. When the mortar bedding is in the proper level
install/fix the tiles.
14. Apply this set mortar on the tiles in thickness 3-4mm.
15. Set the tile with thin set mortar onto the bedding mortar
and used rubber or plastic hammer to push to the correct
level correct location.
16. Tiles must be correctly positioned at the time they are
placed and laid with joints.
