People have made great steps in trying to equalize genders in the society, however, there are
still situations when women feel discriminated against for being female. For example, there is uneven
access to education, where males are given the first priority. Those who uphold patriarchy in the society
still believe that a man is better off educated as compared to a woman. However, when girls are
educated, it opens up their future and gives them more opportunities in life.
Furthermore many countries have job segregation; this is to mean, that there are jobs which
are set aside for men to do. Studies have also shown that, the jobs that are well paying are left to men
since they are believed to be the sole bread winners of all families. This mentality should be discarded.
Women have the same mental ability as men and some women are actually more physically strong than
some men, therefore, employers should consider equating job opportunities. For every one male
employee, there should be one female employee for there to be a gender balance.
The societal mindset is one of the biggest barriers to the growth of women all around the world.
Generally, the society views the woman and the human with the lesser value as compared to the man.
In most situations, the man’s opinion is the one that is considered and taken as the final world whereas
the woman’s voice is silenced. Moreover, there is a likelihood that other areas of gender equality can be
ignored when there is political progress such as better representation of women in leadership position.
When the society changes their value of women and work towards elevating them, then the problem of
gender inequality will be curbed. To ensure progressive change, it is important that all governments pass
laws to allow women to do jobs they desire and to access education easily.
Freedom and prosperity have been largely preserved for white people in the United States of
America for a long time. People of color have been intentionally excluded and denied the opportunity to
practice their rights freely. It is hard for people of color to secure quality jobs because they are often
linked to criminal behavior such as stealing. This increases the poverty levels of many people of color in
the United States. In addition people of color are not given the ability to secure quality education as it is
preserved for white people. For example, a white person is more likely to be picked to join law school as
compared to a person of color. This level of discrimination leads to lack of opportunities for people of
color because their level of education is limited. In addition to this, people of color receive poor
healthcare as they are unable to pay for health insurance. Many health workers prefer to treat white
people since most of them can afford to pay for expensive healthcare.
For there to be positive progress in society, then, the society has to first appreciate that all
human beings are equal and deserve equal rights despite the color of their skin. Employers should
ensure that they give equal opportunities to all people when they send out job vacancies in order to
curb the issue of racism. Also, positive change will be felt when both white people and people of color
are given equal access to education. Universities, laws schools and medical schools should not hesitate
to pick a qualified person of color simply because they are black. Besides, laws should be enacted to
ensure that people of color get access to good healthcare system and health insurances to cover their
medical bills.
The matter of sexuality is one that has led to many arguments around the world. Some people
do not support it while others do not understand other people’s sexuality. Lesbians face a lot of
discrimination for expressing their sexuality publicly as majority of the people view lesbianism as
