Throughout the first weeks of this term, we have studied sociological theories and methods. You have familiarized yourself with a wide range of issues and questions pertaining to peoples, social structures and institutions in society. Write an essay that articulates your views of the role of sociology in understanding current social changes. The essay should not be based on just one of the readings but should rely on a wide range of class readings and notes as much as possible to support your argument. Identify where and when you rely on what source. Use footnotes or endnotes always when you quote or paraphrase sources. You can use readings that were not part of the course materials. The better essays show not merely that you can reproduce information but that you use your critical reason to explain the course materials. Your paper must have an introduction, corpus (development), conclusion and references/bibliography In your introduction: Define sociology. Give some insight on technology and social change. What is the main question you are addressing? How will you develop your argumentation? In your development: Discuss what the social changes are - how technology and science affect social structures, and institutions.
