Cisd2 knockout mice? They noticed an increase in oxygen content and a decrease in oxygen
consumption within these deficient mice compared to animals after the aforementioned
additions. What do Cisd2? (4 mean in the context of aerobic respiration in the mice lacking
points)
Solution
The Cisd2 protein is localized on the mitochondrial outer membrane. To know the significance
and role of Cisd2 in oxygen consumption, knockout mice with Cisd2- was obtained. Then
mitochondria from knockout mice was isolated and to measure the oxygen consumption,
Glutamate - Malate and ADP were applied to activate the respiratory chain reactions. Results
showed decrease in oxygen consumption as there is 30% decrease in electron activities of
complex I-III, complex II - III and Complex IV. Cisd2 protein is essential for mitochondrial
membrane integrity so lack of Cisd2 leads to mitochondria-mediated disorder WFS2.
